I had planned to stay three nights at the Kafischnaps (and I had to pay for that), but I left after the first night because it was virtually impossible for me to stay any longer: My room was directly above the bar/café which turned out to play music as loud as a club, with aggressive beats and until half past twelve (not 24:00 as announced before). The problem is that they start cleaning and moving the furniture at six o´clock, and chairs with metal things under the legs on stone make an awful noise!
The noise was only the worst thing, but on top of that I was rather disappointed because of certain \"small things\":
The lights in my room didn´t work, and only one of the three small lights near the bed worked so that it was rather difficult to get dressed in the morning without opening the jalousie; which was on the other hand not possible because all the windows were facing a big crossing. And there were no curtains which would have been nice with these big windows facing the crossing but nearly no light in the room.
The bathroom was not clean.
The switches in the corridor were very difficult to find in the dark since they had no illumination and were situated at odd places. Therefore there was a lot of noise during the night when people were trying to find the toilet or the bathroom.
The café/bar was so full of cigarette smoke that I couldn´t really enjoy my breakfast; the smell didn´t leave my clothes and my hair that day which is allright if you go out at night but rather unpleasant to start a day with.
Last but not least: They made me pay for three nights although I checked out after the first night. Since I had seen that all the rooms were already booked about two month before I didn´t really believe them when they told me they couldn´t give me any money back because they couldn´t book anyone on the room in such a short time. Under these circumstances (what do they think WHEN they guests are supposed to sleep? between half past twelve and six in the morning???) I would have expected to get back at least half the money.
I was really disappointed and wouldn´t recommend anybody to stay in this hotel although it is the cheapest in Zurich. I went to the youthhostel for the last two nights and although it´s of course less comfortable and with less atmosphere than a hotel, I must say: it was by far better than the Kafischnaps; clean, good breakfast, a nice bar, friendly people and QUIET.

Einfach genial gelegen (Kreuzung Bus 32 und 33), versprüht das Kafischnaps eine heimelige und ungezwungene Atmosphäre. Wasser aus dem Hahn, Bier von der Bar und Sitzen wie in einem alten Milchladen. Die Wohnungen im Haus umgebaut zu schönen und günstigen Pensionszimmern, kann man im Kafischnaps auch am Sonnatg noch bis 16 Uhr frühstücken. Ein Eldorado für Langschläfer und Spätaufsteher...
